On May 10, 2015, there was a report about our inteligent nest boxes in the main news of Czech TV. They are used for research of tengmalm's owl (aegolius funereus) feeding strategy. The device was develop in cooperation with Czech University of Life Sciences Prague and Czech Technical University in Prague.
The embedded system consists of a control board based on the SQM4-VF6-W processor module, two industrial IDS cameras with infrared lighting, optical barrier, RFID reader and sensors of temperature and ambient light. It is powered by a single 12V 60Ah traction battery, ensuring a 7-days long autonomous system performance.
